In my last post I talked about how you can harness the power of the internet to facilitate success for your massage business

I talked about how your website can be leveraged as a distribution platform for content to service your clients.  Content meaning information provided in the form of books, ebooks, videos, cds and dvds.

The purpose of providing content to your clients is that often they come to you as a massage therapist but often find they need help in other areas, such as making lifestyle changes like discovering healthy eating, relationships, work life balance, stress management, anger management etc.

In the course of a typical treatment session, you don’t always have enough time to give them enough information.  Hence the purpose of providing the service of offering content.  Obviously you choose the content you want and what you consider is relevant and of high enough quality.

For example many clients may come to you in a state of total unbalance of health and living in a world of unhealthy eating. Here you may want to refer them to books of your recommended author to help them discover the world of healthy eating.

The same for example if you have stressed or anxious clients in need of learning how to release stress and anxiety in their life.  You could refer them to particular relaxation cds or relaxation meditations.

The same goes for many different situations of difficulty a client may be facing.  A therapist needs to work with their time limitations and so doesn’t usually have the time in a session to go into sufficient detail of the areas the client needs to address.  In these situations having reference material that clients can refer to, can be off great assistance to clients as it helps them to work on changing their lives.

You can have the content available for purchase in two modes – online and offline.  Offline, meaning in your actual treatment centre.  That gives both you and your clients more flexibility to review and purchase in the way that is most convenient for them.

Some may want to look at the recommended book immediately after a session and buy it then and there.  Others may have to rush back to work and then want to peruse at leisure when they are not rushed and have time.

Providing content is a win win situation.  Your client gets the information they need to help themselves and you as the massage therapist provides a better service and more value to the client and at the same time you earn a little extra income for your massage business for the product you are recommending to them.

There are however, many more advantages to having an online distribution platform for content  Having an online distribution platform for content on your website opens up a world of possibilities for your massage business.

In future posts I will talk more about how you can further harness the power of the internet to add value for your clients and facilitate the success of your massage business.
