Like any other business, a massage business needs clients to survive.  Clients need to keep walking through the door so you have a constant cash flow to keep the massage business on the go.  Without enough clients, most businesses are forced to shut down its operations.

One of the most important questions and main problems when setting up a business is “how will I gain clients and keep them coming?”.

One solution is to use a referral system.

Gaining referrals starts by word of mouth.  Therefore it is important that you give the best service to every client coming in for a massage.  You have to build rapport and connect with them.  Remember, the foundation of a referral system is by connecting with your clients and having a good working relationship with the client.

For every client that walks through the door, they have the potential to build and maintain your massage business, or the reverse.  If they are satisfied with your services, chances are that they will go back to their homes or offices and talk about how good your massage was.

Positive feedback is vital.  This will pique the curiosity of other people to try out your massage service.

This is where word of mouth finishes and the referral system starts.  With a referral system you can offer your existing clients a discount or bonus on their next treatment session if they refer new clients to you.

For example, you could create a referral system where you offer your existing clients 20% off the price of their next massage if they refer friends, family or colleagues to you for a massage.

That way if you have provided a truly satisfying service your existing clients will be more likely to refer others to you.

This of course turns out to be a win win situation for all.  Your existing clients are happy to receive a discount for their next massage, new clients can benefit from your services and your massage business will benefit by the new clients walking through the door aiding the growth of your business.
